Fanuel's Profile

Artist Biography
I am a contemporary artist Born 8 January 1990, with a family background rich in artistic expression. My artistic talent was evident from an early age, with exposure to various mediums such as batik, a skill inherited from my late brother Isaac Sithole and further refined by my cousin Ezequiel Mabote. In 2008, Isaac Sithole introduced me to printmaking. Although I possess qualifications in Auto Mechanics, I abandoned my career in this field after my brother's passing in 2012 to pursue my passion for art. My artwork, which includes woodblock carvings and other mediums, has been featured in galleries such as the KZNSA Art Gallery, Thamasa Arts Gallery, and Artvark Gallery.
My recent project, a series of five fish artworks, utilizes woodblock carving techniques to convey emotions, with fish symbolizing transformation, growth, rebirth, and change.
I attempted to balance my thoughts and emotions by channeling them into objects or art forms that could symbolize my thinking. Fortunately, nature has much to offer humans in terms of inspiration.
As a January-born individual, I found solace in water and the ocean's diverse life forms, selecting the fish as a symbol for my artistic expression. I employ woodcarving techniques to depict my thoughts.
