Mpho Mazibuko

Keneiloe-Mpho Mazibuko Durand, more casually known as Mpho, is a brightly smiling emerging artist from the south of Johannesburg, with deep roots in Soweto. Currently moving between Cape Town and Johannesburg, she draws inspiration from her broad family connections and the diverse communities she engages with.
Her passion for artistic expression flourished through formal art education in high school and university, but her true creative odyssey lies in the profound art of storytelling and the delicate act of capturing narratives. Growing up amidst her family’s informal settlements in Turffontein and Rosettenville, and maintaining strong ties to Soweto, she developed a deep sensitivity to the lived experiences of those around her.
Mpho’s work is a testament to human connection—she immerses herself in the lives of family, friends, neighbours, and strangers, gathering their stories with care and weaving them into her artistic tapestry. Whether in orphanages, box homes, or unexpected encounters, she believes every life deserves to be observed with the same tenderness and humanity as art itself. Through her work, she hopes to create deeply personal yet universally resonant connections, reminding us all of the beauty found in being seen, heard, and understood.
