Olivia
Artist Biography
Although currently living in Cape Town, Olivia was born on the 6 th of August 1998 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
She studied at Michaelis School of fine Art, UCT, graduating with a BA and has been practising as a full-time artist for 1year. Her preferred medium is digital sculpture, 3D printing & traditional sculpture.
As a versatile artist adept in both digital and traditional sculpture, Olivia navigates various techniques to bring her creations to life. With a solid foundation in fine art, she merges theory and innovation in her work.
She works in collaboration with Art at Africa, where each piece becomes part of their collective vision. This has allowed her to explore new avenues, including the fascinating realm of 3D printing, adding an innovative touch to her artistic arsenal.
Whether working independently or in collaboration, her commitment lies in producing visually impactful pieces.
She is currently working towards her upcoming exhibition, 'Flow' This showcase will integrate digital sculpting and 3d printing, creating an immersive experience that explores the interconnectedness of humanity and the natural world. 'Flow' is not just an artistic endeavour but a visual journey advocating for environmental conservation, emphasising our responsibility to protect the beauty of the natural world. Her artworks and collections are an expression of her connection to the world around her.
Her creative process is rooted in ideation, where she generates a multitude of ideas based on her visual experiences and emotive/philosophical beliefs. This phase involves a thoughtful exploration of what she has seen and felt. As she delves into the imaginative realm, these ideas start to take shape visually.
Once she has gathered a pool of concepts, she transitions into the design phase for each artwork. This is here the abstract ideas become tangible and structured. It's a dynamic process that involves refining and shaping until the visual representation aligns with her initial inspiration. Overall, her creative journey is a
fusion of imaginative exploration and the hands-on craftsmanship of bringing those ideas to life in a visual
form.
