Zach Mukwira was born in 1968,Makonde- Zimbabwe and currently lives in the Western Cape, South Africa.
He studied not only visual arts, but also movement and dance, theatre and drama. Mukwira has over the years helped to bridge the gap between children with disabilities and able bodied, offering to share his talent and skills teaching the spoken word and visual arts at institutions catering for special needs.
Zach’s paintings are stories of Africa. He draws his inspiration from old African stories, myths and legends passed down through generations. These stories are woven into everyday life situations of people he see in our communities.
My paintings are inspired by African Stories. I draw inspiration from old folks tales, myths and legends passed down through generations. These stories are woven into everyday life sitations and people I come across, in my journey through life. I use fish as a style and symbol and has become a brand that you now visualise in each painting.
