NANETTE (WESSELS) RANGER is the fifth born child of Marius and Rusty Wessels. She was raised in a happy and creative home in Durban, South Africa and went on to study Fine Art at the University of the Free State. There she completed a four year Art degree in 1993 under the tutorage of Ben Bothma, Jan Schutte, Frik Potgieter, Celia Horne and Marnus Havenga.
In 1990 she married environmentalist, Sean Ranger. Her first born, Dylan, came later the same year and her daughter, Adrian followed in 1994. In 1993, while at university, her work was chosen for the Rolfes Impressions Traveling Exhibition. After completing her studies she moved to Warmbaths in the Northern Province of South Africa where she honed her mould-making and metal-casting skills. Towards the end of 1997 the family relocated to Paarl in the Western Cape, where they currently reside.
In 2000 she opened the Nanette Ranger Art Studio; a private Art School that offers drawing, painting, sculpture, pottery and printmaking classes to adults and children. The Art School’s annual exhibition has become a highlight in the Paarl calendar and is very well supported by the community.
