Kim Mobey


Kim Mobey is a full time artist and writer from Cape Town. Currently her work is held in private collections in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Finand, Norway, Spain, Italy, Australia and South Africa.

She has exhibited at The Association for Visual Arts, Reva Cohen’s prestigious Atlantic Gallery, Carmel Gallery and several other established galleries in Cape Town and Knysna.

While curating and participating in several successful group exhibitions, she also taught art privately for 10 years. After securing sponsorship from Sanlam Private Investments she held her first solo exhibition in November 2011.


Kim Mobey’s painting, printmaking and sculpture focuses on global histories and contemporary cultural and political cross-pollination.

Her work is spread equally between traditional media and materials and experimental applications of new materials, techniques and mixed media including collage, calcite printing, sculpture and installation

A passionate advocate of autodidactism, Kim Mobey studied art history, sculpture, painting and printmaking techniques entirely through reading, independent observation and experimentation.
