Hubert Barichievy

Hubert Barichievy attained His B-Tech degree from Durban University of Technology in 2006 and is currently living in Cape Town.

Hubert's fine art is inspired by the intersection of story telling and mythology.  His current work reflects his interest in the human condition. Hubert’s background in sculpture started when he was commissioned by ZA News to turn South African satirist, Jonathan Shapiro’s political caricatures into three dimensional puppets for one of their famous online skits. Shortly after this successful commission, the orders started rolling in. Hubert’s quirkiness and incredible artistic range was clearly demonstrated during his commission work for Fox P2. Hubert was tasked with creating portrait busts out of cheddar cheese as part of a marketing campaign for Parmalat. It was then that Hubert realised not only his talent for sculpture but his passion for it.
